Australian gold explorer Rokeby Resources appoints versed mining engineering as MD
ASX-listed precious and base metals explorer Rokeby Resources has appointed Richard Beazly MD and Tim Pallas nonexecutive chairperson, effective immediately.
Current CEO Trevor Benson will transition to a nonexecutive director role while chairperson Adam Taylor has retired.
The appointments follow after the company agreed to acquire the Omeo gold project, in Victoria, Australia. The company also holds precious metal and base metal projects in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Omeo is an advanced, high-grade gold asset underpinned by a historic mineral resource estimate of 2.4-million tonnes grading 4.02 g/t gold for 320 000 contained ounces.
Beazly is a mining engineer with more than 35 years of technical, operational and corporate experience in the resources industry, while Pallas is one of Victoria's most experienced public leaders and longest-serving Treasurer in the history of the Victorian government.
The Rokeby board considers the incoming leadership team ideally positioned to execute the company's exploration and development strategy at Omeo and across its broader portfolio.
Beazly comments the Omeo gold project is a genuinely exciting asset, with high grades, a historically productive record and with substantial exploration upside. He points out the 5.8-km-long mineralised corridor at the Mt Wills deposit, in particular, has only been tested for a fraction of its strike length.
"I look forward to leading a systematic, technically-driven programme to unlock its full potential."
