ASX-listed Hawk Resources has secured a mining entry permit for the Olympus scandium project by the Western Australian government's Minister of Aboriginal Affairs.

The mining entry permit is a prerequisite for the start of exploration on site and follows Hawk having completed a cultural heritage survey on the priority area and obtained an agreement for mineral exploration.

Hawk plans to undertake soil and rock sampling, geophysical surveying and a rotary air blast drilling programme that covers 80 km2.

The exploration is expected to start in September once Hawk has received consent of the Western Australian Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration and a departmental approval for a programme of work - which are the final requisites.

Hawk is working to earn 80% ownership of the Olympus scandium project.
