Vedanta Zinc International

Vedanta Zinc International is a mining company operating in the zinc sector with interests in South Africa. The company is part of the Vedanta Resources group, a diversified natural resources conglomerate headquartered in London with operations across multiple continents. Vedanta Zinc International's South African operations include the Gamsberg zinc mine in the Northern Cape province, one of the world's largest zinc deposits. The Gamsberg mine, located near the town of Aggeneys, represents a significant investment in the country's mining sector and contributes to South Africa's position as a notable zinc producer. The operation produces zinc concentrate, which is processed into refined zinc metal for use in galvanising steel, die-casting alloys and other industrial applications. Vedanta Zinc International's activities in the Northern Cape have positioned the company as an important employer and economic contributor in a region that also hosts iron ore, manganese and other mineral operations. The company's presence forms part of the broader Vedanta group's strategy to develop and operate large-scale mining assets in key mineral-producing regions. Vedanta Zinc International's operations contribute to local job creation and economic development in areas where mining remains a cornerstone industry.
