Google Cloud is the cloud computing division of Alphabet, offering infrastructure, platform and software services to businesses and governments worldwide. It is headquartered in Mountain View, California, and operates data centres and services across multiple continents, including a presence supporting customers in South Africa and the broader African market. Alphabet, its parent company, is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Google Cloud's core offerings include compute, storage, networking, data analytics and machine-learning tools delivered through its Google Cloud Platform, alongside productivity software under the Google Workspace brand. It competes with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for a share of the global cloud market, ranking as one of the three dominant hyperscale providers. The division has become a significant driver of Alphabet's revenue growth, generating tens of billions of dollars annually. Google Cloud provides artificial intelligence and generative AI capabilities, including large language models and agentic AI tools, that are increasingly used by financial services firms for fraud detection and regulatory compliance.
