Ford

Ford is a multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, United States. The company designs, manufactures and sells a range of vehicles including passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUVs and commercial vehicles under the Ford brand, as well as luxury vehicles through its Lincoln division. Ford operates manufacturing facilities, assembly plants and sales networks across six continents, with significant operations in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America and Africa. In South Africa, Ford has maintained a presence since 1923 and operates major manufacturing facilities in Silverton, Pretoria, and Struandale, Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), producing vehicles for both the domestic market and export. The company's South African operations are particularly known for manufacturing the Ford Ranger pickup truck, which is exported to more than 100 markets globally, making South Africa a strategic export hub within Ford's global production network. Ford Motor Company is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange and remains partially controlled by the Ford family through special voting shares. The company employs approximately 175,000 people worldwide and generates annual revenue exceeding $150-billion. Ford was founded by Henry Ford in 1903 and pioneered mass production techniques with the Model T, revolutionising the automotive industry and making car ownership accessible to the middle class.
