Etango

Etango is a uranium mine project located near Swakopmund in the Erongo region of Namibia, within the country's prolific uranium-bearing belt. It is being developed by Bannerman Energy, an Australian-listed exploration and development company, as a large-scale, low-grade opencast uranium operation. The project is designed to process ore through heap leaching to extract uranium oxide for the nuclear fuel market. Etango has attracted interest from Chinese investors, including China National Nuclear Corporation Overseas, reflecting China's push to secure long-term uranium supply for its nuclear power programme. The project sits alongside other established Namibian uranium operations in a region regarded as one of the world's leading uranium-producing districts, benefiting from existing infrastructure and a supportive regulatory environment. Development of Etango has progressed through feasibility studies aimed at establishing its economic viability at prevailing uranium prices. Bannerman Energy has worked to advance funding, permitting and offtake arrangements to move the project toward a final investment decision. The project's economics are sensitive to global uranium prices and the Australian dollar exchange rate, given Bannerman's listing on the Australian Securities Exchange. Executives such as Brandon Munro have been prominent in promoting the project's prospects to investors and industry. Once developed, Etango would add to Namibia's position as a major global uranium supplier alongside operations such as Rössing and Husab.
