Absa

Absa is a major South African financial services group offering retail, business, corporate and investment banking, wealth management and insurance products. The company is headquartered in Johannesburg and operates across the African continent, with a presence in about 12 countries including South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Ghana, Mauritius, Mozambique and Seychelles. Absa is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and is one of South Africa's largest banks by assets and market capitalisation. The group serves millions of customers, ranging from individual retail clients to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) and large corporations. Absa offers a comprehensive suite of banking services including transactional accounts, loans, mortgages, credit cards, investment products and digital payment solutions such as digital wallets and QR payments. Absa was formerly part of Barclays Africa Group until the British bank Barclays sold down its stake, leading to a rebranding from Barclays Africa to Absa in 2018.
