The construction of the second ball mill at Hummingbird Resources’ Yanfolila gold mine, in Mali, has been completed ahead of time and within budget.

Commissioning is set to begin “imminently” and it is expected that ore will be introduced to the mill this month – a month earlier than previously expected.

When fully operational, the ball mill will increase throughput capacity from one-million tonnes to 1.2-million tonnes a year.

Hummingbird CEO Dan Betts on Monday commented that the commissioning of the ball mill, “is testament to the hard work of our staff and contractors who have worked extremely well together to deliver this project so successfully”.

He added that Hummingbird looked forward to the positive benefits the second ball mill would bring, specifically the increased plant throughput capacity and the resultant economies of scale as the mine transitioned to a higher gold production rate.
