The Wicheeda rare earth element project, near Prince George in British Columbia, has been selected as one of only three new “promising projects” by the province’s Critical Minerals Office (CMO) under its Advanced Project Initiative.

Defense Metals explains that the Wicheeda project will receive early coordination support from the CMO as it advances technical studies and planning work in preparation for environmental assessment and future permitting processes.

Projects are selected for the initiative based on criteria including strength of working relationships with First Nations, geological potential, project readiness and commodity type.

British Columbia Mining and Critical Minerals Minister Jagrup Brar said in a statement that the CMO provides key services to help move promising projects forward more efficiently.
