GP Agencies, agent for Hawkeye Borescopes in South Africa is excited to announce the availability of the new Hawkeye Borescopes V3 HD Video Borescope. Building on the popular V2 , the Hawkeye V3 HD incorporates significant technological advancement to set a new standard in image quality, product construction, and functionality.

The Hawkeye V3 HD Video Borescope is a high-definition, articulating video borescope perfect for various aviation, industry, and construction applications. The combination of the unit’s HD CMOS micro camera, HD touchscreen display, and IMX6 image processor results in sharp, clear images with excellent resolution, contrast and colour rendition.

The Hawkeye V3 HD Video Borescopes also features WiFi capability to view images on iPhones and iPads, as well as sophisticated image processing software, centre and edge weighting and glare reduction features. Dr Doug Kindred, president and chief scientist at manufacturer Gradient Lens describes the HD 4mm videoscope as having “the best image quality on the market today, at roughly half the price of the major US, Japanese, and German competitors”.

The V3 utilises the latest display technology, with a 5.5-inch, high-brightness, daylight-readable HD touchscreen. It has a bright, integrated LED light, servo-driven joystick operated articulation and a six-hour battery life. Optional accessories include, 90-degree close focus tips, a stand, neck strap, rigidizer tubes and a spare battery. 6m and 8m long scopes that can be used for airframe inspection are under development.

These scopes do not require calibration, which simplifies operation and with an intuitive interface, training requirements are minimal. Unlike many borescope products on the market, Gradient Lens’ Hawkeye Borescopes are manufactured in the USA ensuring a stringent quality control process. The V3, is a well-constructed and durable borescope as long as it is operated within its parameters and appropriate care is taken when handling the equipment.

It is important to keep in mind that in articulated borescopes, within the 4-6mm diameter you have a tiny 2mm diameter HD camera with lenses, circuit boards, fibre optics for illumination and the tiny vertebrae required for the articulation attached to tungsten guide wires. This is then encased in a polymer sheath, surrounded with a stainless-steel mono-coil for crush resistance, another poly layer, and then covered with tungsten braid for durability and abrasion resistance. Over articulation, rough handling, or accidental crushing are the most common causes of damage.

The 4mm diameter Hawkeye V3 is available in lengths of 1.5 and 3.0 meters, and the 6mm diameter model is available in lengths of 1.5, 3.0, 6.0, and 8.0 meters. Interchangeable 90-degree and close-focus optical tips are optional. The smooth servo-driven articulation range is +/- 180 degrees. The V3 can operate continuously for 5 hours without the need for recharging. The V3 contains an integrated, high-efficiency Micro LED light source.

The first Hawkeye Borescopes where invented in 1995. Now, Gradient Lens manufactures and sells more than 80 models of Hawkeye borescopes, with top-notch optical quality, construction, and value. GP Agencies is the agent for Hawkeye Borescopes in South Africa with borescopes shipped on demand.
