Stefanutti awarded mine construction projects worth R330m
JSE-listed construction company Stefanutti Stocks announced last week that it had secured two projects, with a combined value of about R330-million, at Assmang’s Black Rock mine operations, in the Northern Cape.
The construction scope awarded by Assmang included the construction of a new winder house and the construction of a circular four-quadrant concrete silo, as well as foundations for the load-out station, a product stock-pile reclaimer, associated conveyors and related civil works.
Stefanutti CEO Willie Meyburgh said the contract awards built on the proud tradition the company had established of executing construction projects at Black Rock and other mines in the Northern Cape, enabling it to further invest in the local economy and create much-needed construction jobs and opportunities for developing enterprises.
A number of Stefanutti Stocks divisions would be collaborating on the projects, delivering a fully wrapped solution to Assmang, the company said.
Stefanutti Stocks Geotechnical would be responsible for the construction and instal- lation of piled foundations for structures and any lateral support that might be required, while Stefanutti Stocks Civils would be responsible for all reinforced concrete construction, includ- ing the construction of a slip-formed 25-m- high silo.
Stefanutti Stocks Roads & Earthworks would handle all the earthworks, which included the construction of platforms, access roads and rail loop bulk earthworks.
Stefanutti stated that work on the projects had started and would be completed in the last quarter of 2014 and the first quarter of 2015.
