South Africans must go all out to turn energy headwinds into energy tailwinds

There was a time when South Africa had so much cheap electricity it didn’t know what to do with it. Currently, there is nothing stopping us from returning to that situation except ourselves. As things stand, the private sector is technically allowed to generate as much electricity as it likes, provided the powers that be are officially informed.

Companies should do everything in their power to ensure that official step is taken and then go full tilt in opting for what will provide the infinite energy horizon that sun, wind, and storage can provide for us, with the excess being stored as green hydrogen for clean mobility, heat, and export.

This provides the best of all worlds for the country while the public sector does its job of bringing everything it owns into line. There is nothing but us in the way of enjoying energy tailwinds of the best kind.
