Servest to provide soft services to Dishaba
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Integrated facilities management solutions provider Servest has been awarded the soft services contract for platinum producer Anglo American Platinum’s Dishaba mine, in Limpopo, the company announced on Wednesday.
In terms of the contract, Servest would provide the mine with cleaning, hygiene and landscaping services.
“We are exceptionally pleased with this contract win as it forms a critical part of our strategy to achieve a mix of organic growth and opens a path to further develop our integrated facilities solution to an evolving industry.
“The Dishaba mine requires solutions to take care of their noncore business functions with a trusted partner that can provide a healthy systematic and aesthetically pleasing environment for the miners,” Servest Cleaning national sales and marketing director Dees Maharaj said.
The bundled service provided to Dishaba would be overseen by a comprehensive on-site management team, which included a facilities manager and a cleaning manager.
Servest pointed out that this management structure differed from that provided to miner Xstrata, for which Servest also worked, emphasising that the service provided to each mine was site and job specific.
Maharaj further stated that there was a clear industry trend towards integrated facilities management solutions.
“More clients recognise that by optimising the synergies between services, we are able to pass on significant cost savings to our clients – providing clients with one point of contact for their facilities service, giving clients the opportunity to enjoy a complete service offering throughout the life cycle of their asset,” he said.
Maharaj added that a strong business strategy within this sector involved understanding the opportunity that was available through these integrated models.
“[It is critical] to increase quality and risk mitigation for an industry that has strict regulations to meet, as this is crucial in developing a strong business strategy and ensuring a conducive healthy working environment for the mine workers. We look forward to working with Dishaba mine to do just this,” he concluded.
