Private fire response network continues roll-out
Subscription-based private fire response network Fidelity SecureFire has expanded operations to George in the Western Cape.
The initiative was started in Gauteng in 2023 and has been rolled out countrywide, aimed at delivering fast, coordinated support to both households and businesses across South Africa.
“We’re not here to replace existing services—we’re here to strengthen them,” says Fidelity Services Group CEO Wahl Bartmann.
“Our tiered response model was built to scale with need. It allows us to respond efficiently and effectively, while also augmenting the efforts of local council. We do not replace the role of public fire services—we support when required or requested. By being first on scene with trained responders and real-time information, we stabilise incidents early, secure environments, and create a safer, more coordinated response platform for all parties.”
The three-tiered response system incorporates the following:
- First responders: Fidelity ADT armed response officers— deployed using over 600 vehicles nationwide—are equipped to extinguish incipient fires, assist with evacuation, secure the scene, and provide real-time intelligence.
- Second responders: Rapid intervention vehicles are capable of suppressing small to medium-sized fires.
- Third responders: Full-scale fire engines and specialised units for high-risk or large-scale emergencies.
The fire protection model is currently active in Pietermaritzburg, Vaaldriehoek, Heidelberg, Cape Town, Gauteng, Durban, East London, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Worcester, Hermanus, Richards Bay, Polokwane, Nelspruit and Rustenburg.
Add-on benefits include:
- Fire prevention solutions
- Fire maintenance and installation contracts
- Compliance inspections and digital reporting
Fidelity SecureFire deployments are backed by the Fidelity Fire national command centre, a 24/7 operations hub that uses real-time data, geographic information system mapping, and fleet analytics to enable coordination and resource deployment.
