Vancouver-headquartered Lundin Mining expects full power restoration and the gradual restart of operations at its Caserones mine to take two to three weeks, while mining operations at the company's Candelaria mine have already returned to full capacity.

The mines are located in Chile's Atacama region and were impacted on by a severe winter storm, which brought heavy rainfall at lower elevations and unusually heavy snowfall at higher altitudes, last week.

Lundin points out that the Caserones mine has been without power since July 18, with two powerline towers serving the mine having been damaged in the storm.

It adds that crews have been mobilised and are working to repair the damaged powerline towers.

Meanwhile, mining operations at Candelaria were briefly impacted by heavy rainfall but the mill continued to operate using existing ore stockpiles.
