Montero awaits results for 625-m-long drill hole on Elvira prospect
TSX-V-listed Montero Mining and Exploration has completed geological logging of a 625-m-long drillhole at the Elvira project, in Chile, with the company confirming it intersected strongly advanced argillic-altered lithic tuff from surface to 194 m and a feldspar-quartz-amphibole porphyry from 194 m to the end of the hole.
The company observed pyrite-bearing sulphide mineralisation at multiple depths below 253 m and at the end of the hole, with pyrite occurring as disseminations, aggregates, chalcedonic veins, hydrothermal crackle breccias and local cavities.
Assay results for the drilling are pending and will be reported once received and verified, Montero confirms.
The assay results will determine whether gold, silver, copper or other metals are associated with the sulphide system.
For context, the latest drill hole is adjacent to an historic one that is only completed to a depth of 281 m. The new hole extends the geological test by more than 340 m below the original hole.
Montero holds a 100% interest in the Avispa copper/molybdenum project in the Palaeocene Porphyry Belt of northern Chile and has an option to acquire the Elvira and Potrero gold projects in the Maricunga Gold Belt.
