Mining jobs website attracts 3 800 listings in first month
More than 3 800 jobs have been listed on employment website company Oil & Gas Job Search’s new Mining Job Search website since its launch on December 17.
Mining Job Search is expected to have the largest number of posted mining jobs world-wide before the end of the year, Oil & Gas Job Search marketing director John Roberts tells Mining Weekly.
“We have new clients coming on board daily and have developed a new technology to search their websites for jobs so that they do not need to post job adverts directly. All new clients also receive a certain number of free job adverts when they open their account,” he says.
The site follows the successfully established model of the Oil & Gas Job Search website, on which more than 12 000 jobs are posted monthly by 1 200 active international clients.
The move into the mining sector was natural for the business, Oil & Gas Job Search MD Duncan Freer stated in a media release, adding that “mining mirrored a lot of the job-search and placement behaviour of the oil and gas sector . . . it had plenty of international contract work and vast potential”.
All Oil & Gas Job Search’s sites cater for higher-level jobs, such as those in engineering and geoscience, as well as management-level roles, but the company encourages clients to advertise all kinds of industry jobs.
“With the powerful search, filtering and job alerts, we can ensure that only relevant jobs reach the right people and vice versa. Search-ing for the word ‘engineer’ currently produces more than 500 results and more than 60 geo-logist positions are live,” Roberts points out.
The site uses clever, quick and easy-to-use software, which ensures the timeous delivery of relevant content. It also has extensive features that are unavailable elsewhere, he says.
For mining industry professionals, the on-site search function is highly evolved, which simplifies the search for the right job. Site visitors can also set up multiple job alerts that email the relevant jobs to them as soon as they are available.
“The initial registration process takes about 20 seconds and creates a custom profile from the candidate’s curriculum vitae (CV), which eliminates the completion of endless form fields.
“We offer high-impact job adverts, a highly intelligent CV database search product, search results advertising and accurately targeted email campaigns to advertisers. We can also assist them with their own social media com-munities,” Roberts says.
“Feedback from all site users, including job seekers, recruitment companies and industry leaders, such as Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton, has been very positive and suggestions to improve the service are implemented in a dynamic idea-driven environment,” he adds.
Further, a mobile version of Mining Job Search is live and reachable at m.oilandgasjobsearch.com. All mobile users are asked if they would like to view the full or mobile version of the site as soon as they enter the site.
This year, the company will also develop applications for iPhone, iPad and Android and improve the main website.
Recognising that more people are using mobile devices means exciting times, which has prompted the company to overhaul its mobile offerings completely this year, Roberts says.
“Increased marketing and social media presence are planned, with a multitude of new services to help our growing client base achieve their recruitment targets. Some of these services are completely new ideas that are not available on any other job board and certainly not within the mining industry,” he concludes.
