Revathi Equipment Limited (REL) is India’s leading manufacturer of high power range of blast hole drills for mining and construction, water well, exploratory drill rigs, and allied products for more than four decades.

Founded in 1977 as Revathi CP Equipment limited the Indian Unit of US based drill rig and compressor manufacturer Chicago Pneumatics. In 1987 REL was acquired by Swedish multinational Atlas Copco.

The company was under the umbrella of Atlas Copco for almost fifteen years, In the year 2002, the Delhi-based Renaissance Group owned by Mr. Abhishek Dalmia acquired the company.

Since its inception, REL has supplied more than 2000 drills. In India, the company enjoys more than 50% market share and customers being the largest coal mining company Coal India Limited, Tata Steel, NMDC, Vedanta to name a few.

REL has also sold drills to mining companies in Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco, South Africa, Serbia, Tunisia, USA, and Zimbabwe.

In 2003 US based drill and dragline major Bucyrus Erie collaborated with REL to design and manufacture drill rigs in India. The 33HR, 35HR, 37HR models were designed and built in India and sold under Bucyrus Erie's brand name throughout the world with customers Anglo American, OPC Morocco, Vale and Kinross in Brazil, Serbia, Australia, USA. This partnership ended with CAT acquiring Bucyrus.

Recently REL has partnered with well known autonomous drilling solutions provider Flanders Electric to manufacture autonomous drills.

Naveed Shaikh, REL Global Manager - Sales & Marketing told us about REL's plans for the African Market.

REL has always wanted to get into the global business but the large Indian market kept it occupied. We started exporting in the year 1991 with few drills to Jordan Phosphate Mining Company, and in 1993 we sold 168 drills to the USA in a span of three years after that we exported 8 to 10 drills every year, and in 2003 the REL BE collaboration happened. When the tie-up was over, we decided to concentrate on our Indian market and increase our product range in the surface track drills and exploratory drills.

In 2019/2020 the company once again decided to look globally, this time with a dedicated global team. In the Southern and Sub Saharan African Market, Paramount Equipment represents us as our sales and service partner. Through this partnership, we have established offices and service facilities in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, DRC, and Ghana.

We have also recently entered a partnership with Basil Read Mining's subsidiary Blasting and Excavating to supply them with Remotely operated Autonomous drills. REL will be closely working with them to deliver autonomous drilling solutions to their mining clients, we strongly believe that such partnerships with clients is the future and we hope to have similar associations with other mining companies as well.

Today REL has its Dealer network in Africa, Mexico, South America, Russia & CIS, and Indonesia with a competitive product range to cater the global drilling Industry.
