A new residential energy solution has been introduced to the South African market, offering a single integrated platform that combines energy storage, power conversion, energy management and intelligent control.

Sigenergy says its next generation SigenStor Neo system is the world’s first all-in-one energy storage system to integrate both a dedicated Smart Port and Backup Port and is designed to become the central hub of a broader home energy ecosystem.

The aim is to provide greater flexibility when building, upgrading or expanding a home energy system. The Smart Port can connect third-party inverters, external generators and electric vehicle (EV) chargers, allowing different energy assets to work within a more integrated system, while the Backup Port supports extended power supply to household loads during grid interruptions.

The system integrates multiple independent energy devices such as an inverter, battery, power conversion system (PCS), energy management system (EMS) and gateway into a single streamlined system. The addition of the Smart Port enables the connection of additional energy resources and devices, as requirements evolve.

The flexibility of the system is particularly suited to customers who may be upgrading an existing solar installation, adding storage to an established system or planning for future energy requirements.

The system is engineered to provide reliable household backup power and is said to deliver 0 ms load-side disruption and up to 200% peak power output capacity, helping household loads to continue operating when grid power is interrupted. In addition, the dedicated Backup Port provides a flexible extended power supply for household loads during unexpected grid outages.

These features are designed to provide a more integrated approach to managing the transition between grid power, stored energy and other available energy resources. The Smart Port also enables an external generator to form part of the system, giving homeowners additional flexibility in the use and configuration of backup resources.

The modular system is designed for long-term flexibility, facilitating the support of up to six vertically stacked battery modules, allowing homeowners to configure storage capacity according to current requirements and expand the system as their energy needs change.

A built-in pack optimiser further supports future expansion by allowing compatible old and new batteries to operate within the same system. The system also incorporates an eight-layer protection architecture designed to enhance safety.

For households whose energy requirements may change over time – whether through increased electricity consumption, additional solar capacity or future EV ownership – the modular approach offers a pathway for expansion.

Integrating the inverter, battery, PCS, EMS and gateway into an all-in-one system offers benefits to installers by reducing the need for multiple separate components and associated wiring. In addition, the system features lightweight modules with lifting handles, a single side cover for wiring, and an optimised terminal layout and installation process designed to reduce deployment time and on-site labour.

Sigenergy says its SigenStor Neo system forms part of the company’s wider “AI in All” strategy, integrating AI across its energy ecosystem, with the SigenAgent all-domain AI energy agent operating through mySigen App 4.0.

SigenAgent enables users to set broader objectives, such as reducing electricity costs or maintaining sufficient backup power. The system is designed to analyse conditions and automatically coordinate connected hardware in support of specific objectives.

The combination of intelligent software and connected hardware is designed to allow the system to become part of a wider home energy ecosystem in which generation, storage, backup resources and connected devices can be managed together.
