Gold miner Firefinch MD Scott Lowe will resign from his position effective August 31. According to a statement issued by the Firefinch board on July 21, the decision to resign was mutual.

From September 1, Firefinch will not have a full-time MD. Rather, executive leadership will be provided by chairperson Brett Fraser with a focus on drawing to a conclusion the strategic review process as announced on December 14 last year, and as otherwise required.

Lowe joined Firefinch in October last year while the company was pursuing a recapitalisation to continue funding the Morila gold mine, in Mali.

Despite the recapitalisation not proceeding, he remained with the company to provide leadership during a difficult period for the company on multiple fronts.

“Since joining the company, [Lowe] has provided sound judgment on the business, sage counsel to the board, critical to navigating the complexities that emerged during his tenure,” Fraser said.
