David Coyne has rejoined the executive team of gold company Spartan Resources, it was announced on Monday.

An experienced CFO and director with more than 30 years’ experience, Coyne, currently a nonexecutive director, will become an executive director and joint company secretary on August 1.

He most recently served as CFO of Australian gold miner Red 5 prior to its merger with Silver Lake Resources last month. Before his role with Red 5 and earlier executive role with Spartan, Coyne held senior executive positions with Australia-listed companies Macmahon Holdings, VDM Group and Peninsula Energy, as well as unlisted manganese miner Consolidated Minerals.

“David played an important role in the strategic decision-making process which led to the company’s reinvigoration as a high-grade gold explorer. We are delighted to have him back in an executive role, bringing his vast experience across the mining and resource sector as we close in on a return to production at Dalgaranga,” said Spartan chairperson Rowan Johnston.
