JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX- and Aim-listed Aureus Mining has completed the pouring of concrete for the ball mill foundations at the processing plant of its New Liberty gold project, in Liberia.

“The completion of the foundations for the ball mill is a key construction milestone in bringing New Liberty into production in the first quarter of 2015,” Aureus president and CEO David Reading said.

The manufacturing of the mill components was also on schedule and was expected to be completed by the end of this month, after which the components would be shipped from South Africa to Liberia, where they were expected to arrive in the first week of June.

The ball mill, which was 17.5 ft X 23.5 ft in size, would take between four and six months to erect, with commissioning expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year and be completed in the first quarter of 2015.

Meanwhile, the civil works for the primary crushers, secondary crushers and screens were expected to be completed by the end of this month after which steel erection would start mid-April.

The project’s bank financing process also remained on track with the first drawdown scheduled for April, Aureus said.
