Canadian gold developer Amex officially starts underground development at Perron
Toronto- and Frankfurt-listed Amex Gold Mining has completed a portal and successful blasting of the first underground development round at its Perron gold project, in Québec.
The first ramp blast marks the official start of underground development at Perron and, with the portal construction now complete, Amex's underground mining contractor CMAC-Thyssen has started with underground ramp development.
The current development programme is designed to advance to a vertical depth of about 235 m, providing access to the high-grade Champagne zone and supporting the company's planned 40 000-t bulk sample programme.
The underground development programme will progressively establish the infrastructure required to access the mineralised zone and complete the bulk sample.
The 40 000-t bulk sample is intended to provide important information on mining conditions, grade continuity, dilution, reconciliation and metallurgical performance while further derisking the future development of Perron.
Amex Exploration CEO and president Victor Cantore comments the portal and ramp work will provide the company with direct underground access and represent an important step in the continued advancement and derisking of the Perron project.
Over coming months underground development will continue toward the Champagne zone, with development progress expected to provide a series of operational milestones as the ramp advances at depth.
