Blencowe appoints nonexec chairperson; interim CEO joins the board
Cameron Pearce has resigned as executive chairperson and director of London-listed Blencowe Resources with immediate effect and is succeeded by nonexecutive director Sam Quinn, who has been appointed nonexecutive chairperson.
Blencowe explains that the chairperson’s role becomes nonexecutive, focused on board oversight and governance rather than the day-to-day running of the business, as interim CEO Iain Wearing has now been appointed to the board as an executive director, making him directly accountable to it.
Together, Blencowe says, these changes provide clearer separation between board oversight and executive delivery as the company advances its 100%-owned Orom-Cross graphite project, in Uganda, towards construction.
“The board thanks Cameron for his contribution to the company since its inception,” the company says.
Wearing was appointed interim CE Officer on September 21, having previously served as COO.
He has led the technical and operational development of Orom-Cross including through the definitive feasibility study process and was the Joint Ore Reserves Committee- (Jorc-) competent person for the ore reserve estimation reported in November 2025.
A mining engineer with over 40 years' experience in the resources industry, Blencowe says Wearing brings extensive expertise in African mining projects, technical study management, operational planning and project development with mining companies Rio Tinto, Barrick Mining, Anaconda/Glencore and Resolute Mining.
The company says his appointment strengthens the link between the board and executive management as Blencowe progresses project funding, commercial arrangements and preparations for construction at Orom-Cross.
Blencowe notes that Quinn is a corporate lawyer with extensive experience in the natural resources sector and has served on the board as a nonexecutive director since its inception.
As nonexecutive chairperson, he will lead the board and oversee its governance and strategic direction, working closely with Wearing and the wider management team.
