Atlantic kicks off augur drilling programme at Ghana lithium project
Dual-listed Atlantic Lithium has embarked on a five-month, 20 000-m auger drilling programme at the flagship Ewoyaa lithium project to test multiple targets within the project area.
The drilling forms part of a broader exploration and resource drilling programme on the 560 km2 Cape Coast lithium portfolio in Ghana.
The drilling has started at the Assen target, in the north of the project area, with four auger rigs to test and define pegmatite footprints.
Atlantic will also use a seismic geophysics survey to test for potential concealed pegmatite targets within the immediate Ewoyaa mineral resource estimate (MRE) footprint.
The targets defined in the auger drilling and the geophysics survey will be followed up with 6 500 m of reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
Concurrently, Atlantic is undertaking 10 000 m of resource infill and extensional RC and diamond core drilling at the project.
About 3 000 m of infill drilling will aim to convert inferred resources to the indicated category at the Ewoyaa South 2 deposit, while 7 000 m of step-out extensional drilling along strike and at depth below the Ewoyaa Main, North-East and Kaampakrom corridor deposits will aim to grow the current MRE.
Meanwhile, Atlantic aims to publish a definitive feasibility study (DFS) using the current 35-million tonnes grading 1.25% lithium oxide resource at the end of the second quarter.
Interim CEO Lennard Kolff says the DFS, as well as font-end engineering design that is well progressed, is advancing Ewoyaa towards construction, while the regional pipeline of exploration targets continues to expand.
