JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Nickel miner Asian Mineral Resources (AMR) has appointed Evgenij Iorich to its board of directors, replacing Stephen Gill, who recently retired.

The company owned and operated the 6 400 t Ban Phuc nickel mine in Vietnam.

“We are delighted to welcome Iorich to the board and look forward to his experience and insight as we progress with the Ban Phuc operations,” AMR chairperson James Askew noted.

Iorich had extensive experience in the natural resources sector, over a broad range of bulk commodities, and precious and base metals. He was currently a Pala Investments VP, where he was actively involved with a number of portfolio companies focusing on a range of strategic initiatives, operational and financial planning and structuring, and merger and acquisition opportunities.

Prior to joining Pala in 2006, Iorich was a financial manager at Russian metals and mining company Mechel. Iorich was also a director of Peninsula Energy and Serinus Energy.
