Graham Kerr

Graham Kerr is chief executive of South32, a diversified global mining and metals company headquartered in Perth, Australia. He is an Australian mining executive with extensive experience in the resources sector. Kerr joined South32 in 2014 as chief operating officer when the company was demerged from BHP, and was appointed chief executive in 2018. Before joining South32, he held senior operational and technical roles at BHP across multiple commodities and geographies, including aluminium, base metals and iron ore. Under his leadership, South32 has focused on optimising its portfolio of assets, which includes aluminium, manganese, nickel, silver, lead and zinc operations across Australia, southern Africa and the Americas. Kerr has overseen the company's strategic decisions regarding capital allocation, asset divestments and growth projects. He has been involved in South32's aluminium operations, including its interests in the Mozal aluminium smelter in Mozambique and related power supply arrangements. Kerr holds a degree in mining engineering and has built his career on operational excellence and disciplined capital management. He is recognised in the mining industry for his technical expertise and focus on sustainable value creation. His tenure has seen South32 navigate commodity price cycles, operational challenges and the transition towards lower-carbon operations.
