Vumatel is a South African fibre-optic network operator providing open-access broadband infrastructure to residential and business customers. Vumatel is a subsidiary of Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH), a black-owned investment group. The company builds and maintains fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and fibre-to-the-business (FTTB) networks, which are then made available to multiple internet service providers on a wholesale basis. This open-access model allows consumers to choose from a range of service providers using Vumatel's infrastructure. Vumatel has rolled out fibre networks in hundreds of suburbs and business districts, making it one of the largest independent fibre operators in South Africa.
