Stephen Lecce

Stephen Lecce is a Canadian politician serving as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. He represents the electoral district of King–Vaughan for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. Lecce has held several ministerial portfolios in the Ontario provincial government, including Minister of Education, a role in which he oversaw the province's education system during a period of significant policy debate and labour negotiations. He has also served in other Cabinet positions, contributing to the government's economic and infrastructure agenda. As a minister, Lecce has been involved in promoting Ontario's critical minerals sector and supporting resource development projects across the province. His responsibilities have included advancing policies to attract investment in mining and manufacturing, particularly in sectors aligned with the transition to clean energy and electric vehicle supply chains. Lecce is known for his focus on economic development, job creation and positioning Ontario as a competitive jurisdiction for business investment. He has been a vocal advocate for leveraging the province's natural resources, including nickel and cobalt, to strengthen Ontario's role in North American supply chains. His political career has been marked by engagement with industry stakeholders, labour groups and municipal leaders on issues ranging from education reform to infrastructure development. Lecce's involvement in files related to critical minerals reflects the Ontario government's broader strategy to capitalise on global demand for battery metals and advanced manufacturing inputs.
