Orion Minerals

Orion Minerals is an Australian-listed mineral exploration and development company focused on copper and zinc projects in South Africa's Northern Cape province. The company is headquartered in Perth, Australia, and maintains operational offices in South Africa. Orion's flagship asset is the Prieska Copper-Zinc Project, a brownfields redevelopment of a historic mining operation that produced copper and zinc from 1971 to 1991. The company also holds the Okiep Copper Project, which encompasses a portfolio of historic copper mines and exploration targets in the Okiep Copper District of the Northern Cape. Orion Minerals is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) under the ticker code ORN. The company's strategy centres on leveraging South Africa's established mining infrastructure and geological endowment to develop base metal projects that can supply critical minerals for the global energy transition. Orion has secured support from the South African government's Industrial Development Corporation, which has participated in project financing. The company employs a combination of Australian technical expertise and local South African operational capability. Orion Minerals was incorporated in 2006 and shifted its focus to South African base metals projects following the acquisition of the Prieska project in 2017.
