Naamsa

Naamsa (National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa) is the principal industry body representing vehicle manufacturers and importers in South Africa. The organisation serves as the collective voice for the automotive manufacturing sector, advocating for policy development and industry interests at government level. Naamsa's membership comprises major vehicle assemblers and importers operating in South Africa, including both domestic manufacturers and local subsidiaries of international automotive groups. The association plays a key role in liaising with government on matters affecting the automotive industry, including trade policy, industrial development programmes such as the Automotive Production Development Programme, and regulatory frameworks. Naamsa publishes monthly vehicle sales statistics and production data, which serve as authoritative indicators of the South African automotive market's performance. The organisation also engages with labour unions, component manufacturers, and other stakeholders across the automotive value chain. Through its advocacy and research functions, naamsa contributes to policy formulation aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of South Africa's automotive manufacturing sector. The association was established to coordinate industry positions and facilitate dialogue between manufacturers, government, and other stakeholders in one of South Africa's most significant manufacturing industries.
