Freeport-McMoRan

Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international mining company specialising in the extraction and production of copper, gold and molybdenum. The company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States and operates large-scale mining assets across North America, South America and Indonesia. Freeport-McMoRan is publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol FCX and ranks among the world's largest publicly traded copper producers. Its core operations include the Grasberg minerals district in Indonesia, one of the world's largest copper and gold deposits, as well as significant mining operations in Arizona, New Mexico and a major molybdenum mine in Colorado. The company also operates the Cerro Verde mine in Peru and the El Abra mine in Chile, both substantial copper producers. Freeport-McMoRan's production portfolio positions it as a critical supplier of copper for global infrastructure, renewable energy and electrification projects. The company employs tens of thousands of people across its operations and reports annual revenues in the tens of billions of dollars. Freeport-McMoRan was formed through a series of mergers and acquisitions, with its modern identity taking shape following the 2007 acquisition of Phelps Dodge Corporation, which significantly expanded its copper assets and global footprint.
