ACSA

Airports Company South Africa is a state-owned company that owns and operates South Africa's nine principal commercial airports. The company manages major international gateways including OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport in Durban, alongside six regional airports. Airports Company South Africa is responsible for airport infrastructure development, maintenance and operations, as well as air traffic and safety services at its facilities. The company generates revenue through aeronautical charges, retail concessions and property leasing. It operates under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Enterprises and is regulated by the Airports Company Act of 1993. Airports Company South Africa plays a central role in the country's aviation sector, handling the majority of passenger and cargo traffic. The company has undertaken significant capital expansion programmes over the past two decades, including upgrades ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Its airports serve as key economic enablers for tourism, trade and regional connectivity across southern Africa. Airports Company South Africa was established in 1993 following the corporatisation of the former Department of Transport's airports division.
