Young takes the reigns at Superior Lake
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Superior Lake Resources has appointed Mike Young as MD, as the company moves into the renewable energy market.
Young was the founding MD of ASX-listed BC Iron, and steered the company through its ASX listing, exploration, feasibility studies, development agreements with major Fortescue Metals, and ultimately to become an iron-ore producer.
He has over 30 years experience in senior roles in the resources industry, and has a long track record of developing mineral projects from concept through to production.
“To attract someone of Young’s caliber is testament to the strategy and ambition the company has to quickly become a leader in Western Australian clean energy,” said Superior Lake nonexecutive chairperson Grant Davey.
“[His] experience in developing projects, specifically in Western Australia over the past two decades, is exceptional. This experience in developing projects in Western Australia is invaluable as we look to quickly advance and commence construction on the Bristol Springs project in 2022, in line with the Western Australian renewable energy strategy.”
Superior has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Bristol Springs Solar, which is developing a 105 MW solar farm. The acquisition will result in a change in the nature and scale of the company and will see Superior Lake seek shareholder approval at an upcoming general meeting, and re-comply with the ASX listing rules.
