PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Coal developer Cuesta Coal on Tuesday announced a maiden resource of 364-million tonnes at its Yellow Jacket project in the Galilee basin, in Queensland.

“The delineation of a maiden resource at Yellow Jacket is another major milestone for the company,” said MD Matt Crawford, adding that the long-term ambition of the company would be to define multiple deposits of coal similar to Yellow Jacket, at shallow depths.

Cuesta’s technical team would now use the geological information obtained at Yellow Jacket to evaluate the extensive tenement portfolio in the Eastern Galilee basin, conducting desktop studies before undertaking further drilling campaigns on the tenement areas.

Cuesta has seven tenements in the area, covering 3 991 km2, which also include a joint venture with QCI, which was earning a 51% interest over two exploration licences, by spending A$3-million.
