Name of the Project
Yauricocha mine expansion.

Location
Yauyos province, in Peru.

Project Owner/s
Sierra Metals.

Project Description
The Yauricocha mine is an underground mining operation with a long production history using well-established, proven mining methods. The majority of the mining is conducted using mechanised sublevel caving, with a relatively small portion of the mine using overhand cut-and-fill.

An updated preliminary economic assessment (PEA) on the proposed expansion of the mine has concluded that Yauricocha will have a capacity of 1.98-million tonnes a year over an 11-year mine life with a maximum production rate of 5 500 t/d.

Life-of-mine (LoM) copper production, payable in copper concentrate, is estimated at 320.3-million pounds and in payable lead in concentrate at 12.6-million pounds.

Mineralised material will be processed at the Chumpe plant using conventional two-stage crushing, followed by grinding classification and a differential flotation circuit to produce commercial-quality lead/silver and copper.

LoM payable production is estimated at 19 900 oz gold, 10.9-million ounces zinc, 131.2-million pounds lead and 399.9-million pounds zinc.

Potential Job Creation
Not stated.

Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
The project has an estimated net present value, at an 8% discount rate, of $273.1-million.

Capital Expenditure
The total initial development capital for the Yauricocha mine expansion is estimated at $102.2-million, which includes a contingency of $10.8-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Mine development is expected to be undertaken between 2022 and 2023, ramping up to 5 500 t/d in 2024 until 2029, when production will taper off until the end of the LoM.

Latest Developments
None stated.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
SRK Consulting (Canada) and Redco Global Peru (PEA).
