Project Description
The project proposes the construction of a solution mining facility at Wynyard, Saskatchewan, to produce a high-grade (97% purity) granular potash product.

Karnalyte intends to build the facility in three phases, with Phase 1 expected to produce an estimated 625 000 t/y, increasing by 750 000 t/y in Phase 2 and totalling 2.125-million tonnes a year with the addition of Phase 3.

Latest Developments
The update to the technical report of the Wynyard potash project has been delayed and will be finalised only in 2023, Karnalyte Resources has reported.

The company appointed consulting and engineering firm Wood to update its project plan in March, citing a strong outlook for the industry.

Karnalyte has said that the recent increase in potash prices resulted in significant growth in western Canada’s economic activity and that this, in conjunction with supply chain constraints, has caused delays to the update of the technical report.

Wood has provided Karnalyte with preliminary capital costs and operating cost estimates, which take into account changes to Saskatchewan’s tax regime, currency exchange rates and cost of labour. The company is reviewing these estimates.
