TSX- and NYSE-listed Golden Star Resources on Thursday announced that Sam Coetzer will be leaving the company on April 30, and that Andrew Wray has been appointed as president and CEO, effective May 1.

Golden Star chairperson Tim Baker said Wray “combines significant experience in the sector with a real focus on creating value for shareholders, together with the leadership skills to take the company through the next phase of its development”.

Wray joins Golden Star from La Mancha, where he will serve as CEO until April 30.

Coetzer will remain president and CEO until the end of the month, but will not stand for election as a director of the company at the annual general meeting, which will be taking place on May 2.
