PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold developer West African Resources has reported a 105% increase in ounces at the M1 South deposit at its Sanbrado gold project, in Burkina Faso.

West African on Monday reported that the M1 South deposit is now estimated to host 1.2-million tonnes of ore, grading 14.4 g/t gold for 556 000 oz of gold in the indicated category, and a further 0.41-million tonnes, grading 14.4 g/t gold for 191 000 oz in the inferred category.

Meanwhile, the company also reported a 40% increase in ounces at the M5 deposit, which is now estimated to host 35.9-million tonnes, grading 1.3 g/t gold for 1.46-million ounces of indicated gold, and a further 12-million tonnes, at 1.1 g/t gold for 410 000 oz of inferred gold.

MD Richard Hyde said that the new resource estimates were just a snapshot of the project at the current point in time, with West African expecting resources to continue to grow as infill and extensional drilling is ongoing, and mineralisation remained open at depth.

“The results show that Sanbrado gold project is a leading gold development project in West Africa. We expect to deliver a further resource update in the first quarter of next year, ahead of the completion of an updated feasibility study in mid-2018.”
