JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mineral sands miner Iluka Resources has recruited the MD of Wesfarmers’ chemical, energy and fertilisers division, Tom O’Leary, as CEO and MD, the company announced on Wednesday.

Starting on September 5, O’Leary would succeed David Robb, who had been MD since October 2006.

“Tom is a seasoned business executive, who has run complex businesses . . . He has a depth of business development and capital deployment experience, including major transactional experience,” commented Iluka chairperson Greg Martin.

Martin said, in March, when Robb’s resignation was announced, that it was an “appropriate time” for a leadership transition.
