South African construction company WBHO’s Australian subsidiary, Probuild Constructions, is building the tallest residential buildings in Sydney and Melbourne.

The A$340-million Greenland Centre, in Sydney, is a 235-m-tall residential building with 479 apartments and a 2 000 m2 creative hub.

WBHO

is also building Aurora Melbourne Central, which MD Paul Foley says is unique, owing to its direct access to the central business district underground rail loop.

“Residents will be able to go directly from their apartments to one of the best shopping precincts and Melbourne’s busiest train station within minutes.”

Aurora’s 92 storeys include 941 residential apartments, three levels of resident facilities, 250 serviced apartments, office suites and retail space.

Foley expects the construction work to create the retail and railway interface to cause little disruption to retailers and commuters, but to be a significant challenge.
