PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior WA Kaolin has completed commissioning of the processing plant at its Wickepin project, in Western Australia, and has started ore processing.

The ASX-listed company on Monday said that it was already approach nameplate capacity of 25 t/h of high purity kaolin, and has completed the first shipment of kaolin K99 produced at the processing plant to a Western Australian customer.

“This has truly been a momentous occasion with the completion of the commissioning stage of our Wickepin processing plant and the successful first shipment of K99 produced at the plant,” said WA Kaolin CEO Andrew Sorensen.

“Of great significance, which we want to reiterate, is that we have completed the commissioning phase at Wickepin with an outstanding safety record, which is something the WA Kaolin team is incredibly proud of. We look forward to reaching our target 200 000 t/y production rate in the coming year whilst progressing with our Stage 2 development, which will see our production increased to 400 000 t/y.”

The company already has offtake agreements in place and letter of intents securing contracts covering around 90% of the targeted Stage 1 production.
