TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Uranium One on Monday said its executive VP for marketing Scott Melbye was recently elected president of Uranium Producers of America (UPA), in Washington DC.

Melbye said the UPA was eager to take on a number of challenges and opportunities to promote the viability of the domestic uranium and conversion industries in 2013.

“The industry is encouraged by a number of new projects advancing towards production, yet still faces hurdles in the regulatory arena and in the market with the ongoing disposition of government inventories,” he said in a statement.

The UPA is currently composed of fifteen companies with operations in eight states.
