Ultrasonic heat and cold measurement for water
South African process control instrumentation manufacturer and distri- butor Instrotech, representing Czech Republic manufacturer and supplier of flowmeters ELIS PLZEN, is offering the Sonotherm 3070 (SN 3070) – an ultrasonic heat and cold meter.
The product is intended to measure absolute heat/cold quantities delivered to plants or otherwise consumed in closed hot-water heating/cooling systems. When used as a commercial meter, the SN3070 can be located either at the input hot-water piping to heated buildings or premises, or at the output of heat sources ahead of a heat exchanger, explains Linbro Park-based Instrotech.
The Sonotherm heat/cold meter measures and stores information on heat quantity calculated from the water temperatures measured at the input and output piping by means of coupled resistance temperature sensors Pt 100 (Pt 500). The heating/cooling water flow rate is measured by an ultrasonic flowmeter. It has a temperature range of 0 °C to 150 °C, with a minimum temperature differential of 2 °C and a flow-rate range of 0.05 m3/h to 23 000 m3/h.
The SN3070 is supplied in three configurations: electronic unit MTU2.00, coupled resistance temperature sensors Pt 100 (Pt 500) and ultrasonic sensor UC7.0.
“Our mission is to design and manufac- ture cost-effective consistently reliable high-quality industrial electronics, sensors, instrumentation and calibrators for the automated process and control industry that compliment primary sensors such as load cells, pressure and flow transmitters sourced from European and North American companies,” highlights the company, which distributes and manufactures a range of process control instrumentation and specialised systems to the South African and international markets.
Instrotech, which was formed in 1981, was acquired in 2010 by Comtest, a provider of test and measurement, communications, equipment and solutions from “world-leading manufacturers, supplying the Southern African market.
