Project Description
The mining project covers Mason Graphite’s Lac Guéret graphite deposit. The project has total measured and indicated mineral resources of 65.64-million tonnes grading 17.2% graphitic carbon.
A preliminary economic assessment (PEA) has demonstrated attractive economics, with a targeted production estimated at 500 000 t/y of graphite concentrate over a 24-year life-of-mine, making it one of the world’s biggest graphite projects in development.
The mining method is a conventional openpit, truck-and-shovel, drill-and-blast operation.
Potential Job Creation
Initial modelling indicates that the project will create about 300 direct jobs.
Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
The PEA indicates a pretax net present value, at an 8% discount rate, of C$3.61-billion and an internal rate of return of 32.6%, with a payback of 2.8 years.
Capital Expenditure
Initial capital expenditure is estimated C$1.42-billion.
