Tucumã on track for first copper in Q3, says Ero Copper
Toronto- and New York-listed Ero Copper has been awarded an operational licence for the Tucumã project, in Brazil, passing the final permitting milestone for commercial operation.
With physical completion at about 99%, commissioning well advanced and more than 90% of the operational staff hired and trained, Ero continues to expect its first copper concentrate early in the third quarter of 2024.
“Across our operations and throughout the project development, Brazil has continued to demonstrate its commitment to advancing strategic critical mineral projects, and the success of the Tucumã project is a testament to this effort," said CEO David Strang.
With the project approaching completion, the company has recently released an updated three-year production outlook. This outlook projects copper-in-concentrate production to range from 17 000 t to 25 000 t in 2024, with a significant increase to between 53 000 t and 58 000 t in 2025, marking Tucumã’s first full year of production.
