Trans Hex delivers improved average grades

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Trans Hex’s South African operations delivered a year-to-date diamond output of 34 435 ct as at November.

The group reported on Monday that 21 849 ct, at an average of 0.78 ct/100 m3, was produced during the six months to September, while 12 586 ct, at an average grade of 1.17 ct/100 m3, was produced in October and November.

The company had sold 39 701 ct for R434.3-million as at December 5.

During October and December, tender sales of 12 759 ct had secured R161.2-million at an average price of $1 243/ct.

Two further tender sales of South African production would be held before financial year-end in March.

Trans Hex said its 33%-owned Somiluana mine, in Angola, produced 14 184 ct during October and November, bringing its year-to-date production to 49 963 ct as at the end of November.

The Angola-based subsidiary sold 13 073 ct, at an average price of $454/ct, generating $5.9-million, during October and November.
