Tourism Radio continues worldwide growth with Windows Phone app launch
Travel technology innovator Tourism Radio has become the latest application developer to migrate onto the Windows Phone platform.Tourism Radio began development of the Windows versions of their application in late 2013, in partnership with Microsoft South Africa. The Tourism Radio City Guides application allows Windows Phone users to receive relevant high-quality audio, images as well as travel information about various sites near their location.
“The Windows Phone platform continues to increase in size and popularity with mobile users across the world. Microsoft South Africa has been instrumental in helping us develop a travel app that we believe will soon set the standard on the Windows Phone platform,” says Hayden Braddock, Tourism Radio CEO. “After considerable planning and testing, we are now ready for the launch of our app.”
The Tourism Radio City Guides Windows Phone app is available for download for free from the Windows Phone Store at http://bit.ly/TourRadApp. It is only the first of many new applications from Tourism Radio that Windows Phone users can expect to find in the Windows Phone Store soon.
Tourism Radio Content Manager Jonathan Meyer said that the company will also be rolling out Windows Phone versions of their application stable in the coming weeks. This includes other location-aware applications such as the Compleat Golfer SA Golf Guide, which enables tech-savvy golfers to discover the best golf courses that South Africa has to offer.
“Windows Phone already connects smartphone users to all the virtual places where they are able to connect with the people that they care about such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. Now, thanks to the availability of the Tourism Radio City Guides app, users will also be able to discover new and interesting real world locations near their vicinity, which they can explore with their friends,” says Clifford de Wit, development platform lead at Microsoft South Africa.
