Toliara Sands project, Madagascar.
Project description
The project is located between Toliara and Morombe, in the south-west of Madagascar, within which a large resource of smelter-grade ilmenite has been identified. There is also potential to extend reserves northwards. The orebody is free-flowing sand, with no overburden and few environmental issues.
If further studies prove positive, the resource will provide an ideal long-term supply (30-years plus) of ilmenite.

The estimated cost of the project is $150-million.
The bankable feasibility study will cost $5-million.

Latest developments
The bankable feasibility study on the Toliara Sands Project in south-west Madagascar has commenced and will be completed in early 2007. The currently delineated deposit within the Toliara Sands Project is capable of providing long term ilmenite feedstock to the Ticor SA furnaces.
