PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed TNG has inked a heads of agreement (HoA) with Malaysia-based green energy company AGV Energy & Technology to collaborate on the proposed integration of vanadium redox flow batteries with green hydrogen production technology.

AGV Energy and its partners are developing a technology to produce green hydrogen using the electrolysis of demineralized water and renewable energy, with the first commercial application planned at a project in Malaysia.

Under the HoA, TNG and AGV Energy will also explore opportunities to collaborate on commercialising this technology in Australia and other opportunities for the application of vanadium redox flow batteries in Malaysia.

“We are very pleased to have secured this HoA with AGV Energy, opening up an exciting pathway to collaborate with them on the development of their exciting green hydrogen HySustain technology,” said TNG MD and CEO Paul Burton.

“HySustain is a great opportunity to showcase an integrated vanadium redox flow battery storage solution. We also intend to work with AGV Energy on the potential rollout of HySustain in Australia, given the significant momentum within Australia and the resources industry to move towards a hydrogen-based economy.”

Burton said that the collaboration was an important further strategic step in TNG’s ongoing programme to reduce its net carbon emissions, including future emissions from its Mount Peak project.
